
Moldova's public debt balance at the end of 2024 is projected at 124 billion 191.1 million lei, which is 1 billion 441.7 million lei less than the previously approved figure
This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance on the draft of new amendments to the Law on the State Budget for 2024. Moldova's public debt balance will decrease due to a decrease in both internal and external public debt. As of December 31, 2024, the external public debt balance is expected to amount to 79 billion 878.6 million lei, decreasing by 349.6 million lei (-0.4%) compared to the previously approved figure, under the influence of the revaluation of the exchange rate. At the same time, as of December 31, 2024, the balance of domestic public debt will amount to 44 billion 312.5 million lei, decreasing by 1 billion 092.1 million lei (-2.4%) compared to the previously approved value, under the influence of the reduction in the volume of government securities issued in the primary market. As a result, the share of the balance of public debt in GDP will decrease by 0.5 percentage points compared to the previously approved value and will amount to 38.7% as of December 31, 2024.
