The new Ministers took the constitutional oath on Tuesday during a ceremony attended by President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean

According to the decrees signed by the head of state, Vladimir Bolea was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ludmila Catlabuga - Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Daniela Misail-Nichitin - Minister of Internal Affairs. They vowed to give all their strength and skills for Moldova's prosperity, to respect the country's Constitution and laws, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, Moldova's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity. Maia Sandu wished the new ministers success in their work, expressing satisfaction with the fact that the share of women in the current government's team has increased. She noted that Daniela Misail-Nichitin knows very well the Ministry, where she was State Secretary. The head of state said that the priorities of the Interior Ministry are to speed up the process of negotiations with the EU in the field of internal affairs, as well as to increase the capacities of the subordinated institutions and to improve the cooperation between them, so that the citizens are and feel safe. Moldovan President emphasized that Ludmila Catlabuga, before joining the government team from yesterday till today, had experienced first-hand what it means to be a public person. Maia Sandu urged her not to focus on personal attacks and hate speech. “You are here because you have proven professionalism and courage to launch a business and succeed in Moldova in a difficult field. You will lead an industry with many challenges. Livestock farming, from where you came to the Cabinet, was left to perish in the last decades and only three years ago the revival of the sector started. But there is still much to be done to make this sector competitive,” said the head of state. According to her, in addition, the problems in agriculture are that for decades nothing has been done to help adapt to climate change, to improve competitiveness. “And there is no room for populist approaches. No matter how difficult the conditions are today, we need to help develop enterprises that are competitive and take into account the realities of climate change in Moldova,” Maia Sandu said. According to her, the former head of the Agriculture Ministry, Vladimir Bolea, started important changes in the sector and he needs to continue them through close consultations and communication with all the participants in the agricultural sector. President thanked Vladimir Bolea for all the transformations started in the agricultural sector, noting that he will now get to manage a broad sector with great responsibility, but also with great influence on the majority of citizens. “The programs and projects for which the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, which you are in charge of, directly contribute to the growth of citizens' living standards. Therefore, both the speed of movement and the quality of actions are extremely important. I am confident that you will succeed,” the head of state said. She thanked former Interior Minister Adrian Efros for his honest work and constant efforts, and wished success to Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the entire government team. For his part, Prime Minister said that the Moldovan police have already demonstrated efficiency in the fight against electoral corruption and a growing ability to ensure public order. Dorin Recean said that he wants “the same tangible changes for the benefit of the people to take place in other MIA subdivisions”. Prime Minister also welcomed the new Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ludmila Catlabuga, to the government, expressing confidence that, having built a high value-added agriculture for her family, she will multiply and spread this experience at the national level. On infrastructure, Prime Minister said Vladimir Bolea is taking on a vast field, with many responsibilities, but also with influence over the vast majority of citizens. “Thank you for transforming one sector; it's time to move on to another. The construction sector needs to be revitalized because it is the source and driver of economic growth. And we have sectors such as railways that need to be restructured,” added Dorin Recean. // 19.11.2024 - InfoMarket.
