The EU will continue to work with the Moldovan authorities to advance reforms and strengthen the country's stability and prosperity on its path to the EU, including through the recently announced Moldovan Growth Plan
This is stated in a joint statement by the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova. In it, the EU congratulates Maia Sandu on her re-election for a second term as President of Moldova. "We commend the Moldovan authorities for holding the elections successfully, despite unprecedented interference by Russia, including through vote-buying and disinformation schemes. These hybrid attempts aimed at undermining the country's democratic institutions and its path to the EU," the joint statement by the European Commission and Josep Borrell says. It underlines that the European Union supports Moldova's security and resilience, including through the European Peace Facility and EU partnership missions. Moldova has become the first country to sign a security and defence partnership agreement with the EU. "The recent referendum reaffirmed the commitment of the Moldovan people to the European path and to further strengthening our close ties. The EU will continue to work with the Moldovan President and authorities to advance further reforms and strengthen the country's stability and prosperity on its path to the EU, including through the recently announced Moldova Growth Plan," the European Commission and EU High Representative Josep Borrell said in a joint statement. // 04.11.2024 — InfoMarket
