
The Moldovan government and the EU provided grants worth 14 million lei to another 43 companies in our country
This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, noting that the Cabinet of Ministers and the European Union support local entrepreneurs through the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). On Wednesday, October 30, grants totaling about 14 million lei were received by another 43 beneficiaries, bringing the total volume of such investments in the economy to over 25 million lei. At the same time, 27 companies received EU funds totaling almost 7 million lei. The Moldovan government provided financial assistance to another 16 companies for a total of 7 million lei. During the event to announce the beneficiaries of the grants, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba noted that in order to build a prosperous economy, it is important for entrepreneurs to have favorable conditions for development. "The bold reforms that we have implemented so far are proof of this commitment - to creating a more business-friendly environment. We have removed bureaucratic obstacles, provided access to financing, digitalized numerous public services for entrepreneurs, opened up new markets. In turn, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Moldova Adam Grodzicki noted that supporting entrepreneurship and sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses is a priority of the EU partnership with Moldova. He drew attention to the steady increase in the number of requests for high-quality financing of national SME programs supported by the EU, as well as the increase in the number of enterprises participating in these programs. Adam Grodzicki said that the EU will continue to support SMEs, which are an important driving force for strengthening the Moldovan economy. Thanks to the new Economic Growth Plan of Moldova, by 2027, over 5,000 new enterprises, including small family businesses, will be created, and another 25,000 existing enterprises will benefit from support. Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Organization, added that the consistent support from the European Union and the Government of Moldova allows our entrepreneurs to access the necessary financial resources to modernize processes, implement innovative technologies and expand production capacities. “These investments are fundamental to increasing competitiveness on the domestic market and, at the same time, integrating local businesses into regional and international value chains,” he emphasized. Grants are provided to companies through a number of programs managed by the ODA, including: the Start for Youth program, the Women's Entrepreneurship Support Program, the PARE 1+2 remittances attraction program, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Digital Transformation Program, the Export Competitiveness and Internationalization Enhancement Program for SMEs and the Greening of Small and Medium Enterprises Program. The largest investments are directed to the industrial sector, approximately 50% of beneficiaries are in this sector. Another 30% of entrepreneurs will invest in the acquisition of technical means for the development of the service sector: professional, scientific, technical activities, accommodation, food and education. About 20% of the beneficiaries work in the agricultural sector, where they will use the funds to re-technologize and green their businesses. During this year, ODA has assisted 479 companies in obtaining grants totaling over 197 million lei. Of this amount, almost 143 million lei came from the state budget, and 40 million lei were provided by the European Union within the EU for Small and Medium Enterprises project. Also, the World Bank, within the Export Competitiveness and Internationalization Program for Small and Medium Enterprises, supported 18 companies with funds in the amount of 6.4 million lei. At the same time, within the Digital Innovation and Tech Startups Support Program, 20 companies received grants totaling 8.5 million lei with the financial support of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund in partnership with the Future Technologies Activity (FTA) project, funded by USAID, Sweden and the United Kingdom.// 30.10.2024 – InfoMarket.
