
Moldova's monetary base in July 2024 decreased by 1 billion 861.9 million lei (-2.2%) month-on-month, amounting to 82 billion 310.3 million lei
The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) reported this, noting that, at the same time, it increased by 3.0% compared to July of the previous year. According to the NBM, in July 2024, the monetary base M0 (money in circulation) increased by 0.838 billion lei (+2.1%), compared to June 2024, and amounted to 41 billion 320.9 million lei. At the same time, it increased by 15.8% as compared to July 2023. Monetary base M1 (money in circulation and residents’ demand deposits in MDL) increased by 1 billion 543.5 million lei (+1.7%) as compared to June 2024, and amounted to 89 billion 987.0 million lei. At the same time, it was 24.8% higher than in June of the previous year. The monetary base M2 (including monetary aggregate M1, term deposits in MDL of residents and money market instruments) increased by 2 billion 491.6 million lei (+2.1%), as compared to June 2024 and amounted to 119 billion 981.1 million lei. Compared to June of the previous year, the indicator increased by 16.3%.
