
Moldova: Industrial production volume increased by 2.8% in January-April 2024 from the same period in 2023.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, without providing data in monetary terms. According to the department, in April 2024, compared to April 2023, industrial production increased by 5%. As noted by the NBS, the growth in production (gross series) in April 2024, compared to April 2023 (by 5%), was due to an increase in the volume of production in the mining industry (+60.9%) and manufacturing industry (+10 .2%), which led to an increase in the total volume of industrial production by 1.2% and 8.7%, respectively. At the same time, there was a decline in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-39.3%), which mitigated the increase in total industrial production by 4.9%. In general, in January-April 2024, compared with the same period in 2023, production volumes in the mining industry increased by 9.2%, in the processing industry - by 2.1%. At the same time, enterprises producing electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased production by 4.7%. According to statistics, for 4 months in 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, growth occurred in the following segments: production of chemicals and chemical products (+41.5%); paper and paper products (+6.3%); pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals (+11.4%); production in the metallurgical industry (+56.8%); production of metal structures and products, except machinery, equipment and installations (+34.3%); production of computers, electronic and optical products (+43.6%); machinery and equipment (+41.9%); cars, trailers and semi-trailers (+4.5%); furniture (+28.6%). In the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment section, the growth was 16.8%. At the same time, the volume of production at food industry enterprises decreased (-4.6%). Beverage production decreased (-14.5%); textile products (-1.2%); clothes (-12.8%); rubber and plastic products (-5%); electrical equipment (-0.3%). Under the section “tanning and finishing of leather; production of suitcases, bags, saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur” the decline was 35.8%; under the section “wood processing and production of wood and cork products, except furniture; production of products from straw and other plant materials for weaving" - the decline was 19.6%.
