The Ministries of Energy of Moldova and Romania jointly with Techcelerator announced the launch of the SEE CleanTech Accelerator.

The matter concerns a business accelerator dedicated to startups and innovators from Southeast Europe creating technological solutions for green energy. According to the Ministry of Energy, the initiative will help startups and creators of technological solutions to develop the field of clean technology and regional energy. The announcement was made at Romania's Dimitrie Leonida Technical Museum in Bucharest, which will become an energy hub dedicated to innovation in the field. The program was developed in partnership with Romgaz, Hidroelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, Energy Valley Cluster, Transelectrica, UiPath, Electrica, Israel Electric Corporation, Transgaz, Conpet, ELCEN, energy complexes Oltenia and Valea Jiului, Society for Energy Participation Management. Founders and innovators selected for the program will have access to benefits such as joint projects with leading energy companies, business, technology and fundraising advice from experienced industry professionals, including recommendations for major venture capital. Startups and innovators can apply in the following clean technology areas: digital and smart clean technology solutions, advanced renewable energy solutions, integrated green hydrogen ecosystem, next generation carbon management, expanding closed loop economy practices, advances in energy storage, green urban infrastructure, water conservation and management technologies, carbon sequestration in agriculture and soils, green materials and chemicals, projects for the development of energy efficiency and energy efficiency, and the development of new technologies and technologies for the energy sector. Romania's Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja said startups have been his focus in all the ministerial mandates he has held, in research, digitalization and now energy. "I have an American academic background and I have seen what it means in the US. The platform launched today is the first step. The project is bigger and includes the creation of an energy center on the site of the Dimitrie Leonida Museum, a symbolic place for Romanian innovation, which will also include the Unicorn Factory. Innovation is an important area of development and Romania has the necessary brains to make the leap into the future. We are just trying to bring innovative minds together with entrepreneurs and companies in this field. And why not, let's create a center of excellence in the heart of Bucharest,” he said. Ramona Moldovan, Deputy Secretary General of Romania's Energy Ministry, noted the authorities' intention to make Romania a regional center for clean technologies, to create a space where ideas can take shape and grow not only in Romania, but also regionally, in countries such as Moldova. "Romania can create these opportunities to generate ideas, experiences and lessons. We have identified a list of priorities in the agenda of companies in the energy sector and, based on these needs, today we are announcing a call for innovators in this field in an attempt to find concrete solutions,” she said. Moldovan Energy Ministry Secretary General Andrei Gritco emphasized that this hub will be not only a big step forward for Romania, but also a great opportunity for Moldova. "At the moment we don't have such a hub in Moldova, but we want to develop it together with our partners in Romania. In Moldova we need to accelerate in infrastructure and we are very proud to be part of this project. The two initiatives - the hub and the CleanTech Accelerator - represent an important development opportunity for us, as companies from Moldova can also apply for the accelerator program,” he said. // 12.06.2024 - InfoMarket.
