Moldova intends to issue Eurobonds to finance infrastructure projects connecting Moldova and Ukraine via Romania to the European Union by land and railroad transport.

This was announced by Moldovan representatives during the Frontier Markets Fixed Income conference, held at the end of last week in London and dedicated to developing countries. Our country was represented at the forum by Finance Minister Petru Rotaru, National Bank Governor Anca Dragu and State Secretary of the Finance Ministry Ion Gumene. According to the Ministry of Finance, the conference gathered leading financial professionals and specialists, investors, leaders of the corporate sector and rating companies of the countries to study market trends in terms of opportunities and challenges of emerging markets. The event included a session dedicated to Moldova, during which the Moldovan delegation presented the evolution of the main macroeconomic indicators, the fiscal situation, the monetary policy, the evolution of the banking sector, the national reform program and strategic infrastructure projects for which it is necessary to identify investment sources. During the bilateral meetings, the Moldovan representatives discussed with 15 funds and investment companies the prospects of developing the domestic capital market and options of accessing the international capital market. At the same time, the Moldovan delegation announced during the conference its intention to issue Eurobonds to finance infrastructure projects connecting Moldova and Ukraine via Romania to the European Union by land and railroad transport.
