Moldova to transpose into national legislation the European norms concerning the Customs Union.

A delegation of the Ministry of Finance, Customs Service and Moldova's Ambassador to the EU are participating in an explanatory session organized in Brussels on Chapter 29 of the European legislation "Customs Union". It includes 33 parts, which cover key EU policy areas that Moldova has to agree on in the accession process. The event was also joined by online members of the working group in charge of transposing this chapter. Various aspects were discussed at the meeting: special customs procedures (except transit), customs debt, customs control of transported goods, risk analysis, the status of "authorized economic operator", classification of goods, provisions of the EU Customs Code, organization of customs administration and other issues related to this chapter. The legal framework of the Customs Union consists mainly of directly applicable legislation that ensures the functioning of the Customs Union, as well as the effective protection and control of its external borders. It includes the Union's Customs Code and by-laws, the Combined Nomenclature, the Common Customs Tariff and provisions on tariff classification, exemption from customs duties, suspension of duties and certain tariff quotas. There are also other regulations that deal with intellectual property, drug trafficking, cultural property, cooperation between EU customs administrations and mutual administrative assistance in customs matters with third countries. // 23.04.2024 - InfoMarket.
