The National Bank announced this, noting that NBM President Anca Dragu, accompanied by a delegation from the bank, took part in the Founding Meeting of the IMF and the World Bank, which includes Moldova. Discussions covered economic growth, inflation risks and monetary policy measures taken by central banks, strengthening the governance of financial institutions, and the impact of the war in Ukraine and Israel on the financial sector. Topics covered included the impact of climate change, increasing geographic fragmentation of the economy, and prospects for economic growth in the face of moderate productivity growth. A separate topic of discussion was the need to ensure adequate funds to maintain global financial stability. During the meeting, Anca Dragu sent an invitation to all participants to take part in the next meeting of the Constituent Assembly of the IMF and the World Bank, which will be held on July 10-12 in Chisinau. Continuing the visit, the NBM delegation met with US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Europe and Eurasia Brian McCauley. Discussions concerned macroeconomic prospects and the reform program of the National Bank, programs with the IMF. As noted in the NBM, the spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington represent a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions of different countries in the field of economic development and financial stability in the context of current regional and global events, as well as in the long term.
