The Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service of Moldova signed a Cooperation Plan with UNDP to bring tax policy into line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As noted in the UN Development Programme, in particular, the Ministry of Finance will align its fiscal policy with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to ensure a decent life for all people in a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous environment. The Cooperation Plan with the UN Development Program signed by the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service of Moldova is intended to strengthen the capacity of national authorities to form a tax system that will promote reforms for the benefit of all citizens, especially vulnerable ones. At the same time, opportunities for financing national development priorities will be identified. “The signing of this program represents an important step in our efforts to strengthen the fiscal framework and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Moldova. Cooperation with the UN Development Program will allow us to identify and implement tax strategies and policies that meet the realities and needs of taxpayers,” said Finance Minister Petru Rotaru. In turn, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Daniela Gasparikova noted that financing sustainable development goals means making the most effective use of domestic financial resources and directing them towards long-term development goals in order to give people, especially vulnerable groups of the population, the opportunity to become financially independent and have access to opportunities of growth. “The cooperation plan we signed today is also about good governance and strengthening capacity to combat tax evasion, fraud and illicit financial flows. We are confident that a culture of honesty will help Moldova develop faster,” she said.// 02.04.2024 — InfoMarket
