Moldovan banks’ total own funds in 2023 increased by 2 billion 589.9 million lei (+14.1%), amounting to 20 billion 947.3 million lei.
Such data are given in the materials of the National Bank of Moldova on the financial situation of the banking sector in 2023. As noted, the increase in own funds is due to the reflection by some banks of acceptable profits after holding general meetings of shareholders and after obtaining the NBM authorization to include the obtained profits in own funds. At the same time, the positive difference between the allowances for losses on assets and contingent liabilities and the amount of allowances for impairment of assets and provisions for possible losses increased. As noted by the National Bank, as of the end of 2023, all banks complied with prudential indicators on large exposures or exposures to affiliates, except for 1 bank, where the limit of 30% of the aggregate exposure from loans to customers or a group of related customers, which are the size of the first 10 loan debts in the total loan portfolio, which is 46.2%, was exceeded. As noted by the NBM, according to the provisions of the Regulation on large exposures (Chapter IV, item 26), exceeding the limit of the mentioned indicator is not considered a violation if the bank fulfills the additional requirement of own funds for this excess and the bank fulfills these requirements. The National Bank also indicated that, as of the end of 2023, all banks complied with the limit of dominant position in the banking market, which is below the 35 percent limit of this indicator on the size of deposits of individuals. //29.03.2024 - InfoMarket.
