Moldova has launched a website www.pentru.md, which will collect data about the EU and the benefits of Moldova joining it.
President of Moldova Maia Sandu announced this at a press conference on March 18. According to her, “the advantages of joining the EU are obvious, and we must communicate them to as many citizens as possible in the next period”: peace will be guaranteed in the EU; all citizens will have higher incomes and better-paid jobs, as evidenced by salaries and pensions in Romania or Lithuania; we will have laws and justice in accordance with EU standards, where rights are respected, people move freely and everyone is equal before the law; we'll get more financial help for highways, schools and water systems; Good mutual understanding and preservation of traditions await us. “There are many benefits to improving well-being, to raising the standard of living of our citizens. Here we can all see what the standard of living is in different EU countries and compare this standard of living with the standard of living of Moldovan citizens. We are already receiving some benefits. Our exports to the EU last year amounted to almost 65%, that is, 47 billion lei. This is the money that Moldovans received, produced goods and services in the EU and which returned home. For comparison, our exports to the Russian Federation are only 3.5%. And, of course, the more resources enter the country, the more the living conditions of our citizens improve, the greater the contribution of economic agents to the state budget. The more resources there are in the state budget, the more resources we must invest in education, healthcare, roads, increase social benefits, salaries, pensions and much more,” said Maia Sandu. She gave the example of two EU countries. In Romania, the salary is 1,500 euros per month, and in Lithuania, with a population comparable to Moldova, the salary exceeds 2 thousand euros. Pensions in these countries are also higher, and life expectancy is 10 years higher than life expectancy in Moldova. The President also touched upon a higher level of the justice system in the EU, investments in infrastructure, etc. All information about the opportunities that the EU opens for Moldova and what the EU is doing for Moldova will be published on the website www.pentru.md. This site will also be called upon to combat fakes about the EU. // 18.03.2024 — InfoMarket.
