
Portuguese company Greenvolt is interested in building a wind farm in Moldova.
This was said at a meeting in Chisinau between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. According to the government's press service, the sides discussed the possibilities of boosting trade, economic and investment relations. The officials highlighted opportunities to develop trade relations and identify new ways of partnership and investments in such fields as renewable energy and energy efficiency, information technologies and modernization of transport infrastructure. "Moldova has talent and creativity, but it needs investment. Our country's development priorities are infrastructure, renewable energy, industrialization of agriculture, and digitalization of the economy. We realize that economic development is important for improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening democracy," Dorin Recean said. He noted that 20 companies with Portuguese capital are already present in Moldova and said that he was happy about the interest shown by the Portuguese company Greenvolt in the construction of a wind farm in Moldova. The officials welcomed the business forum organized by the Invest Moldova Agency in Chisinau on 31 October. The event is attended by Portuguese companies operating on the Romanian market, which will learn about the possibilities of business development in Moldova. A memorandum of understanding between the Moldovan and Portuguese investment agencies will be signed on the sidelines of the forum. The sides referred to Moldova's European course and the opportunities offered by the EU accession process, including by opening new markets for exports. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa reiterated support for Moldova's European agenda and for the deepening of friendly relations between the two countries. "Moldova is fighting for democracy, human rights, peace and sovereignty. Portugal supports you in this noble goal. Democracy needs sustainable development and social justice, we are at your disposal to share our country's experience in the EU accession process," the Portuguese president said.
