
The Government will allocate more than 1.65 billion lei under the Spor pentru Moldova Program for the direct support of 170,000 citizens.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced this at a briefing on Monday, noting that this package of support for the population and additional substantial allocations from the state budget, when adjusted, will be sent to Parliament for approval next week. "The Spor pentru Moldova Program means that the government will provide additional support to citizens and will raise the salaries of medical staff and theater workers starting from October 1, offer lump-sum payments to teaching and non-teaching staff, rescue workers, police officers and carabineers. We will provide additional money for regional development, roads, agriculture and energy spending. On the way to EU accession, we are building a strong economy that will bring more investments and allow citizens to develop business at home," stated Dorin Recean. He recalled that last year was very difficult for Moldova, but with the support of external partners from the EU, the USA, other development partners and international organizations, Moldova managed to pass a difficult winter, to provide compensations for energy expenses through invoices and other assistance. "This year is also difficult for Moldova, there are economic problems, but the Government will support the citizens and the economy. Despite all the difficulties, we have found additional resources with the support of partners from the EU, USA, international organizations; we will implement a program to provide assistance and increase incomes for many categories of citizens and stimulate economic growth. Our goal is to have a strong European economy together, which will lead to an increase in wages," Prime Minister said. He said that the total cost of the Spor pentru Moldova Program will amount to 1.65 billion lei and will have a direct impact on 170 thousand citizens. At the same time, 352 million lei will be additionally allocated to cover the expenses for heat and electricity in kindergartens, schools, hospitals and other budgetary institutions. Within the framework of the program to support health care, the salaries of all doctors, nurses and paramedics financed from the mandatory health insurance funds will be increased by 15%. The increase will affect 48 thousand people, while the doctor's salary will rise from 17,344 to 19,945 lei. The government will also provide assistance to the education sector, which will benefit more than 100 thousand people in total. It is expected that all teachers will receive a lump-sum payment of 5,000 lei, while 35 thousand people who are not pedagogical workers will receive a lump-sum compensation of 3,000 lei. Besides, more than 10 thousand law-enforcement officers who ensure citizens' security, police officers, rescuers, carabineers, etc., will also receive a lump-sum payment of 5,000 lei. In addition, the theatrical workers will be backed, and the average salary in all cultural institutions subordinated to the Culture Ministry will be increased by 25%. There will be an increase of 1,500 lei per month in salaries for actors, directors and cultural workers. At the same time, the government will allocate an additional 100 million lei for the repair and maintenance of roads, as well as 300 million lei for the regional development within the European Village Program. Also, additional funds will be allocated to farmers. Dorin Recean did not name the amount of assistance to farmers.
