
The 4th meeting of the Moldova Support Platform will take place in Chisinau on 17 October with the participation of 30 countries and international organizations.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced this at a news briefing on Wednesday, recalling that the Moldova Support Platform was initiated by Romania, France and Germany in order to unite the EU countries and other states, friends of Moldova, which assist it in the context of the ongoing crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. Dorin Recean recalled that earlier meetings of the Moldova Support Platform were held in Berlin, Bucharest and Paris, and after these meetings, Moldova received support from external partners, including for the compensation of citizens' energy expenses through invoices, for the free provision of diesel fuel for farmers, as well as for the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the construction of a section of the Basarabeasca-Berezino railroad and the Leova-Bumbata pontoon bridge. During the current meeting in Chisinau, the Moldovan government will discuss with external partners the support for covering the budgetary expenses related to the payment of salaries and pensions, as well as for further backing the socially vulnerable layers of the population. Prime Minister specified that, in particular, the creation of important development funds will be discussed, which are meant to help cover the losses caused by the economic downturn and to put Moldova on the path of economic development. He spoke about the creation of an infrastructure development fund for the implementation of big projects, as well as a fund for energy transition, energy independence, energy efficiency and adaptation to climate change. The matter concerns energy efficiency measures, promotion of renewable energy sources, so that our country becomes more energy independent and the agricultural sector is adapted to climate change. // 20.09.2023 - InfoMarket
