Moldova to liquidate the "Otaci-Business Production Park" Free Economic Zone (FEZ).
At a meeting on Wednesday, the government approved a draft on the liquidation (dissolution) of this free zone and the transfer of its property to the Otaci city administration (11 buildings with a total area of over 920 square meters, as well as fixed assets). Otaci-Business was created in the Ocnita district to stimulate the development of the north-eastern region of Moldova. The explanatory note to the government decision notes that during 25 years of activity, this FEZ has not registered significant financial results and has not become a regional growth pole, which would contribute to economic development and job creation. At the end of 2022, there were 10 companies resident in the Otaci FEZ, of which only 4 had performed any economic activity. Given the official expiration of the zone in April 2023 and the lack of economic activity in the zone, it was decided that Otaci-Business would not be extended. Thus, after the liquidation of the Otaci-Business Zone, the number of FEZs in Moldova will be reduced to six: Expo-Business-Chișinău, Ungheni-Business, Balti, Tvardita, Vulcanesti and Taraclia FEZs. //02.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
