The Cabinet of Ministers approved the amendments to the Program for the allocation of the Road Fund’s resources for national public roads in 2023, increasing the expenses by 736 million lei (by 49.5%) - up to 2 billion 221 million 348.4 thousand lei.
The funds will be used for the maintenance and repair of engineering constructions and public roads with a total length of 5951 km. In particular, authorities decided to increase the expenses by allocating additional funds for the current maintenance of roads in the summer period (patching, profiling of crushed stone roads with the addition of material, maintenance of the earth bed and drainage structures, unforeseen works: in case of floods, landslides, including contracts based on efficiency criteria, etc.) by 123 million 392.9 thousand lei to 462 million 241.3 thousand lei, and in the winter period (snow clearing, ice control) - by 35 million lei to 90 million lei. Expenses for periodic maintenance of roads will also be increased - from 122 million lei to 155 million 135 thousand lei; for the repair of roads and bridges - by 481 million 826.1 thousand lei to 724 million 826.1 thousand lei; for major repairs - by 8 million 730 thousand lei; for the management of roads (including the costs of arbitration and legal costs) - by 39 million 717 thousand lei; development of normative and technical documents - by 999 thousand lei up to 2 million 499 thousand lei. An additional 10 million lei will be spent on designing, assessing roads and acquiring land, the amount has been increased to 80.5 million lei; for joint financing of road rehabilitation projects in 2023 - 3 million lei, up to 38 million lei; for the purchase of equipment for the testing laboratory of the State Road Administration and for measuring the traffic intensity on national roads - 200 thousand lei, up to 12.2 million lei. It is emphasized that amendments to the Program for allocating the Road Fund’s resources for national public roads in 2023 do not require the disbursement of additional financial resources as they fit the limit of funds available in the Road Fund, approved by the Law on the State Budget for 2023.
