Andrei Spinu has been appointed as the new Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, Adrian Efros as the new Interior Minister, and Dan Perciun as the new Minister of Education and Research.

The relevant decrees on their appointment to these positions were signed by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. The new ministers took the constitutional oath in front of the head of state Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The head of state wished the new ministers success in their work and noted that they will have to continue and accelerate the reforms they have begun in the areas they will manage. She thanked their predecessors Anatolie Topala, Ana Revenco and Lilia Dabija for the selfless work during this period, great efforts and sacrifices. "They have led industries through a difficult period, but they have managed to cope with multiple crises, improve operations and initiate important reforms. These processes must be continued and accelerated. We have high hopes: we must cope with the current problems, transform major industries and carry out enough reforms to achieve our goal of joining the EU by 2030," said Maia Sandu. She listed the managerial qualities of all three new ministers and named the tasks that they have to solve. Maia Sandu noted that Dan Perciun has been familiar with the field of education since 2014, when immediately after graduating from the University of Cambridge, he joined the Ministry of Education as head of the Department of e-Transformation during the time when Maia Sandu was Minister of Education, he has accumulated important experience in public policy, management and institutional improvement, which has been confirmed in Parliament, where Dan Perciun headed the commission on social protection, health and family. "The most important initiatives and reforms in this area were launched with the participation of Dan Perciun. Here we are talking about the system for providing compensation during the cold season, a system that was developed in record time and was highly appreciated by our international partners, and about increasing pensions and benefits, the new distribution of resources for families with children and much more. I am sure that his initiative, perseverance, ability to learn and delve into the smallest details will help us accelerate developments in this important area of education," said Maia Sandu. She recalled that Andrei Spinu served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development in the government of Natalia Gavrilita. "In the previous government, he was responsible for extremely difficult areas, and I mean, in particular, the energy system. Andrei Spinu took an image blow by trying to solve extremely difficult problems, and he solved them at a time when we saw very high energy prices, and our decisions were also complex. But Andrei Spinu managed to provide the country with energy resources, despite the crisis and Moscow's blackmail. We were not left without gas and electricity and were able to diversify gas supplies for the first time and for the first time move away from 100% dependence on Russia for energy supplies," the President said. She noted that Andrei Spinu was also responsible for regional development, successfully implemented the European Village program, projects for the repair of roads, bridges, and the development of railway infrastructure, and he will continue to do this. "He has participated in peacekeeping missions and knows well what the price of peace is," said Maia Sandu, adding that important processes have been launched in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and that attempts to destabilize the situation in country, maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens. "Hybrid attempts will continue. The challenges are still great, and it is necessary to strengthen the existing potential to ensure peace in the country and the security of citizens," the President of the country said. Prime Minister Dorin Recean also expressed his wishes to each of the new ministers, first thanking their predecessors for their good work in a difficult period. The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, addressing Dan Perciun, noted that university education in Moldova should be competitive for the growth of added value in all areas and also noted the importance of improving the quality of education in schools, investing more and more efficiently using resources in the department to improve teacher training. He pointed out to Andrei Spinu the importance of reducing the cycle of projects in all segments - from their launch to completion: "We are open to partners from the EU and the USA, they allocate resources to us, and it is important for us to be able to quickly and efficiently implement projects. It is also important to speed up the implementation of the "European Village" program and make it more accessible to all settlements, said Dorin Recean. He called on the new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, to reduce the time for intervention, response in all corners of the country, to increase the confidence of citizens in the police, the Border Police, firefighters, rescuers and carabinieri. //17.07.2023 – InfoMarket.
