In Moldova, the dairy industry will receive state subsidies, as well as grants from the World Bank

This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, noting that the strategic framework for the development of livestock farms and the policy of subsidizing the livestock sector became the subject of discussions between the leadership of the agricultural department and the Association of Dairy Farmers. The farmers spoke about the investments they plan to make, about the amounts needed to increase milk production, and about the Regulations of the new AGGRI project launched in our country, including for the revival of the livestock sector. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea noted that the agricultural department is a reliable partner for the agricultural business, and the subsidy measures that will be available this year for animal husbandry will have a significant impact on the entire milk production industry. "We are focusing on several tools to support milk producers. We are talking about paying subsidies per kg of milk, per head of animal and providing investment grants through the AGGRI project. Our new goal is to obtain the right to export dairy products to the EU market, as we achieved it for the supply of eggs and processed poultry meat. To do this, you need to do your homework. You need to analyze your own business, strengthen relations with grain producers and meet quality requirements, "said Vladimir Bolea. He called on farmers to join cooperatives in order to increase their competitiveness and increase income, as well as be able to collectively agree on contractual terms and prices for milk.As InfoMarket reported earlier, the World Bank will provide Moldova with a loan in the amount of $55 million (50.1 million euros) for the project "Investment in the management, development and improvement of the sustainability of the agricultural sector" (AGGRI). This money for the development of the agricultural sector in our country will be allocated by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is part of the World Bank Group. In general, the AGGRI project will support the efforts of the authorities to improve living and working conditions in rural areas, strengthen the sustainability of the agricultural sector, and increase the income of farmers. It is planned that about $21 million will be provided to stimulate initiatives to promote and develop the livestock industry. The business environment will be stimulated to create new dairy farms, upgrade existing farms to increase productivity, improve product quality and reduce environmental impact. The money is also intended to bring it into line with the requirements of the European market and increase the access of Moldovan products to the EU shelves. Another $25 million will be allocated to restore primary and secondary irrigation infrastructure to increase crop yields and improve access to centralized irrigation systems. Approximately $6.5 million is planned to be allocated to strengthen the capacity of AIPA and the National Food Safety Agency, as well as to support the establishment of an Agricultural Advisory Center and Veterinary Centers of Excellence. Approximately $2.5 million will be used to administer the project, which is a Moldovan agricultural sector financing program until 2029. The AGGRI project will help Moldova improve the delivery of public agricultural services, stimulate market-driven growth, and increase the resilience of targeted beneficiaries, while ensuring at the same time, effective mechanisms for responding to emerging crises. It is expected that the implementation of this project will improve the quality of life in rural areas, stimulate the growth of incomes of beneficiaries, ensure the modernization of agricultural enterprises, create new jobs, increase tax deductions to the state budget, and create conditions for attracting new investments in agriculture and related industries. // 06.07.2023 — InfoMarket
