This was discussed during a joint briefing held in Chisinau by the Prime Ministers of the two countries Dorin Recean and Marcel Ciolacu. The Moldovan prime minister thanked Romania for the huge and quick assistance provided to our country, support in promoting Moldova's European integration and in the field of its socio-economic development. He recalled that Romania provided important assistance to Moldova to overcome the energy crisis, and also continues to provide our country with the necessary assistance to promote economic development. “Our relationship is getting stronger and stronger. We are jointly developing infrastructure, building new roads, bridges, energy networks, creating a common digital space for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. Thus, we are building Europe here in Moldova,” said Dorin Recean. He said that the Moldovan authorities want to provide a friendly economic environment for companies and called on Romanian companies to actively invest in Moldova, which will help further strengthen trade and economic cooperation. The Prime Minister of Moldova said that he discussed with his Romanian counterpart 9 projects worth 28 million euros for the second tranche of a grant from the government of Romania from a total gratuitous financial assistance in the amount of 100 million euros. According to him, this money will be used to invest in the development of the capabilities of Moldovan companies and the development of the settlements of our country. Dorin Recean thanked Romania for helping to promote at the EU level the decision to impose sanctions on persons who destabilize the situation in Moldova in order to stop the illegal financing of criminal groups trying to wage a hybrid war in Moldova. He stressed that Romania is helping Moldova to move forward along the path of European integration and expressed hope that by the end of the year it will be possible to move to a new level and start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the EU. “We hope for help, but for now we are building Europe at home!” Dorin Recean said. In turn, the new Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, noted that both countries, which have faced the consequences of various crises due to the war in Ukraine, need to jointly solve the challenges they face, with an emphasis on expanding trade and economic relations. He noted that last year the trade turnover between Moldova and Romania increased by more than 50% and amounted to $3.6 billion. Marcel Ciolacu noted that Moldova offered Romania projects of local authorities for the development of settlements within the European Village program, promising that at the next meeting, the Romanian government will approve the allocation of money for the implementation of these projects related to the provision of drinking water, sewerage, and the development of other infrastructure in the villages of Moldova, so that they are European. Marcel Ciolacu called for Moldova and Romania to create an effective cooperation mechanism in order to increase the dynamics of the implementation of these and other projects. He promised that Bucharest will deepen its support for our country, especially in the economic sphere, thereby improving the quality of life of citizens. "Moldova's future is in the European Union, and Romania will support its accession to the EU in every possible way, taking into account all the challenges," said the Prime Minister of Romania. Earlier it was reported that Romania allocated to Moldova the first tranche of a grant of 25 million euros out of a total grant of 100 million euros, and these funds were intended for the implementation of various projects in strategic areas of development that have a specific impact on citizens. // 21.06.2023 — InfoMarket
