ANRE has approved a 38.2% decrease in natural gas tariffs for household consumers of Moldova - to 16.73 lei per 1 cubic meter excluding VAT or 18.06 lei including VAT.
The Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has decided to reduce all differentiated tariffs for natural gas supply. Thus, the tariff at the entry points of gas transport networks will make up 13,348 lei per 1,000 cubic meters without VAT, which is 46% less than the current one. The tariff at the exit points of the gas transport networks will make up 13,514 lei per 1000 cubic meters excluding VAT, which is by 45.7% less than the current one. The tariff for gas consumers connected to high pressure gas distribution networks is fixed at the level of 13,666 lei per 1,000 cubic meters net of VAT (-45.7%), for medium pressure networks – 14,381 lei per 1,000 cubic meters (-43,5%), and for low pressure networks – 16,730 lei per 1,000 cubic meters (-38.2%). Thus, the natural gas tariff for the residential end-users of Moldova will amount to 16.73 lei per 1 cubic meter without VAT, or 18.06 lei per 1 cubic meter including 8% VAT. The main reason for the revision of tariffs was a considerable drop in the purchase prices of natural gas (from $927 per 1,000 cu. m. to $750 per 1,000 cu. m.) which, pursuant to a decision of the National Commission on Emergency Situations, Moldovagaz buys from Energocom for end-consumers on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River. The reduction of tariffs was also influenced by the dynamics of the average annual exchange rate of the national currency against the U.S. dollar, projected for 2023. The average annual exchange rate is estimated at 18.99 lei per $1 compared to the average annual exchange rate of 19.32 lei per $1 included in the current price. The new tariffs will take effect after the publication of the ANRE's decision in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). // 07.06.2023 – InfoMarket
