
The World Bank raised the forecast for Moldova's GDP growth in 2023 by 0.2 p.p. - from 1.6% to 1.8%.
At the same time, it kept the forecast for economic growth in 2024 at 4.2%, and for 2025 it predicts Moldova's GDP growth by 4.1%. Such data are contained in the new edition of the World Bank's Global Economic Prospects report for June 2023, published on June 6. It should be noted that in the previous WB report for January 2023, the World Bank lowered the forecast for Moldova's GDP in 2023 from 2.7% to 1.6%, but kept the forecast for the country's economic growth in 2024 at 4.2%. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, Moldova's GDP in 2022 amounted to 272.6 billion lei and decreased in real terms by 5.9% compared to 2021. According to the latest forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Moldova's GDP growth in 2023 will be 2.5%, in 2024 - 3.5%, in 2025 - 4%, in 2026 - 4.5%, and in value terms will amount to 308.8 billion lei, 339.5 billion lei, 376.1 billion lei and 417.2 billion lei, respectively. The International Monetary Fund predicts Moldova's GDP growth in 2023 at the level of 2%, in 2024 - by 4.3%, and in 2025 - by 5%. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has maintained its forecast for Moldova for the current and next year and expects a decline in its GDP by 1.3% in 2023, and growth by 3.5% in 2024.
