The United States is ready to provide Moldova with technical assistance to digitize the entire tax system, which will help attract investment.
This was discussed during a meeting held by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba with Director of the US Treasury Department of Technical Assistance Jason R. Orlando and Deputy Head of Mission of the US Embassy in Moldova Laura Hruby. The parties discussed the importance of digitalization of the tax system for attracting investment. The representative of the US Treasury noted that it is possible to provide technical assistance to our country within the framework of the program to digitize the entire tax system. This program is being developed jointly with the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service and is capable of transforming the fiscal system and taxation in line with European and international standards. Dumitru Alaiba noted that Moldova needs a clear, transparent and fair taxation system that will create favorable conditions for attracting investments and supporting entrepreneurial activities. In this way, unfair commercial practices will be combated, which will contribute to the development of the business environment. During the discussions, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization confirmed that one of the main tasks of the institution he leads for 2023 is to build relations between the state and the business environment based on mutual trust.
