Moldova will join the World Road Organization (PIARC), which includes 122 countries of the world.
The government approved the relevant resolution at a meeting on Wednesday. It is noted that in October 2008, the World Road Organization (PIARC) Council accepted Moldova's application to join this organization, but no accession document was approved in Moldova, the country did not pay fees to this organization and did not delegate a representative or experts. Despite this, World Road Organization (PIARC) reported on the possibility of resuming cooperation with Moldova and the payment of arrears in payment of membership fees. According to the project, Moldova will have to repay the debt on membership fees for the last 3 years - 9.9 thousand euros, as well as pay current annual fees - 3.3 thousand euros. The World Road Organization (PIARC) is an international apolitical, non-profit organization founded in 1909 to promote cooperation in all matters related to roads. The organization brings together a network of road experts from around the world, provides these experts with collaborative working methods and publishes their recommendations and reports. All this takes place in the context of integrated and sustainable transport. By joining this organization, Moldova will be able to take part in the events it organizes, develop cooperation with member countries, participate in meetings of technical committees and working groups, exchange experiences, have access to the organization’s database (reporting, technical materials, statistical data and research, etc.).// 25.01.2023 — InfoMarket.
