
Moldova will receive an additional loan of 100 million euros from the EBRD for the modernization of roads.
In particular, this is stipulated in the Agreement N3 ratified by the Moldovan Parliament on Thursday to amend the Loan Agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for road construction and rehabilitation works in the Republic of Moldova of 28 June 2013, signed in Chisinau on 11 November 2022. It is planned that more than 85 km of roads in the following sections will be rehabilitated with funds from the additional credit from EBRD: road R14, R6 – Codru Nou - Soroca - Unguri - border with Ukraine, the section Soroca - Arionesti, 31 km in total. Road R8.1, R8 - Arionesti - R14, section Arionesti - Otaci with a total of 9,4 km; road M3 Chisinau - Comrat - Giurgiulesti - border with Romania, section Vulcanesti bypass with a total of 8,58 km; road R33 Hincesti-Lapusna - M1 with a total of 37,2 km. The amendment agreement will contribute to the full implementation of the project "Roads' Rehabilitation in Moldova IV Project ", which will bring economic benefits in the form of better condition and quality of the national road network, through reduction of transportation costs for road users in Moldova, which indirectly contribute to the economic growth. At the same time, it will have a positive impact on population mobility by facilitating road transport and improving road safety. The loan agreement between our country and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development regarding the construction and rehabilitation of roads in Moldova was signed on 28 June 2013 and ratified the same year. Initially, it provided for a loan of 150 million euros. // 08.12.2022 – InfoMarket
