Moldova and Ukraine agreed to cooperate on air defense issues, improve border control, and sign an agreement in 2023 on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester at the common border.

An agreement on this was reached by the Prime Ministers of the two countries Natalia Gavrilita and Denys Shmyhal at a meeting in Kyiv. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the parties discussed joint steps towards European integration, countering Russian aggression and information propaganda, cooperation in the field of energy, logistics, as well as trade and economic partnership. “The full-scale war radically changed the situation in the region. Its effects are being felt daily throughout Europe. Nobody feels safe. In particular, yesterday, during another massive attack, the Moldovan energy system experienced colossal overloads. This will repeat itself over and over again. Until we defeat the enemy, we will liberate Ukrainian lands and make Russia answer for its crimes,” Denys Shmyhal said. Following the meeting, the heads of government of Moldova and Ukraine signed a joint statement and reached a number of important agreements. In particular, Moldova and Ukraine will continue to remove administrative and procedural barriers to the free movement of people and goods between the two countries. It is also expected that by mid-2023 an agreement will be concluded on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester at the common border. “We will activate the dialogue format in the Ukraine-Moldova-Romania triangle. To this end, in 2023 we will hold a meeting of the heads of government of the three states. We are creating a bilateral working group to coordinate the integration of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU. We are ready to provide our Moldovan partners with comprehensive expert support for the successful implementation by Moldova of the recommendations of the European Commission,” said Denys Shmyhal. In addition, Moldova and Ukraine agreed to cooperate on air defense issues, improve border control and support cooperation and dialogue on peace and security issues in the Transnistrian region of Moldova. // 06.12.2022 — InfoMarket
