Moldova, with US support, will purchase emergency power generators for hospitals and companies providing important social services.

This was announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, noting that the Moldovan government, in cooperation with the USAID Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA) project, announced a tender for the purchase of new emergency power generators. They will be designed for city and district hospitals, power transmission operators, heating and water supply companies to provide them with electricity in the short term in emergencies. The deadline for submitting proposals is 15 December. The goal of the 4-year Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is to strengthen Moldova's energy security by: promoting the physical and market integration of the Moldovan energy sector with Europe; strengthening the integration of renewable energy sources; increasing investment in energy efficiency and domestic electricity generation, especially through increased deployment of renewable energy technologies. In this context, MESA is working with the Government of Moldova to procure new emergency generators or replace non-functioning units to provide short-term emergency power to critical loads within a specific building or facility. This will ensure the minimum requirements for the operation of critical and social infrastructure facilities in accordance with the priorities of the Moldovan government. Under the Energy Security Fund, MESA plans to work with 22 municipal and regional hospitals, an electricity transmission operator, thermal power companies and water companies to deploy up to 4 MW of generating capacity. // 01.12.2022 — InfoMarket
