Romania will soon provide Moldova with the previously promised additional grant of 10 million euros to support the budget.

This was stated by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis during a telephone conversation on Friday with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. According to the press service of the Romanian head of state, the presidents of the two countries discussed current developments regarding the security situation in the region and the multifaceted consequences of the conflict in Ukraine for Moldova and at the regional level. Klaus Iohannis reaffirmed Romania's full solidarity with Moldova by analyzing, together with Maia Sandu, new concrete support options that Romania can offer further in this crisis at all levels. In this context, the President of Romania announced that yesterday he signed a law on the ratification of an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of a program of technical and financial assistance based on a 100 million euro grant of financial assistance provided by Romania to Moldova. The agreement was signed in Chisinau on 11 February. Klaus Iohannis also assured that direct financial assistance for Moldova in the amount of 10 million euros, announced by Romania at the international Moldova Support Conference launched on April 5 in Berlin, co-chaired by Romania, Germany and France, will be available in the near future. Recent events in the Transnistrian region were also considered. The President of Romania reaffirmed his country's position of full support for the call for calm and responsibility voiced by Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
