Moldova and Romania signed 13 bilateral documents following the joint meeting of the governments of the two countries.

The documents were signed in the presence of the Prime Ministers of Moldova and Romania, Natalia Gavrilita and Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca. The parties signed, in particular, a joint declaration of the governments of Moldova and Romania on strengthening economic and investment cooperation, as well as an intergovernmental agreement on a program of technical and financial assistance based on 100 million euros of gratuitous financial assistance provided by Romania to Moldova. The money that will be received from Romania in the coming years can be used to implement projects in key sectors of our country, such as energy, transport and infrastructure, development of small and medium-sized businesses, healthcare, education and others. Among the most important documents signed today in Chisinau is an agreement on reducing tariffs for the provision of international roaming and international communication services between the two states. Thus, for calls in roaming from Romania to Moldova, tariffs will be reduced by at least 10 times, calls received in roaming to Romania from Moldova will not be charged, and for Internet services used in roaming in Romania, tariffs will be reduced by at least 5 times. Several important agreements signed relate to the repair and construction of bridges across the Prut. In particular, an agreement was signed on the repair of the Galati-Giurgiulesti border road bridge. An agreement was also signed on the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of an automobile bridge between the two states between the settlements of Ungheni (Moldova) - Ungheni (Romania). In addition, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova and the Ministry of Energy of Romania on cooperation in the field of energy security. The document provides for the establishment of joint actions in order to prevent and manage crisis situations in the field of energy and/or natural gas supplies to the relevant markets of Romania and Moldova. Parties within 6 months should develop a joint plan of action and solidarity measures in the event of an energy crisis. Along with this, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of digital transformation between the governments of Moldova and Romania. In turn, the Ministry of Defense of Moldova and the Ministry of National Defense of Romania signed a protocol on cooperation in the field of military education. The document, concluded for 10 years, is aimed at developing cooperation in order to train military and civilian personnel in the field of defense through participation in training programs in military educational institutions of the two states. A protocol on cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Moldova and the Ministry of Education of Romania for 2022-2026 was also signed. Through this protocol, Romania will support the modernization of the education system in Moldova. Herewith, in the next 4 years, Romania will be able to annually send teachers of various specialties to work in educational institutions of Moldova. Both states will also offer free study places and/or scholarships in pre-university and higher education. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization of Romania in the field of research, development and innovation. In addition, the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Moldova and Romania signed a joint statement on cooperation in the field of internal affairs. In addition, a Plan for cooperation in the field of professional training of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Moldova and Romania for 2022 was signed. An Action Plan in the field of justice between the Ministries of Justice of Moldova and Romania for 2022-2024 was also signed. The plan sets out joint actions to prevent and combat corruption and organized crime, as well as to strengthen the rule of law and justice reform, taking into account Romania's experience in the process of justice reform before and after accession to the European Union.// 11.02.2022 — InfoMarket
