Moldova is considering the possibility of issuing government Eurobonds to finance projects of national importance to improve infrastructure.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita stated this while speaking at the “Moldovan Capital Markets Day” at London Stock Exchange headquarters. The authorities also support the initiative to globalize local businesses by bringing companies to international capital markets through an initial public offering (IPO) and / or Eurobonds, she said. “We know that maib is studying the possibilities of entering international markets, and if it decides to do this, we will support the bank in this mission,” Moldovan Prime Minister said. The head of the Cabinet said that the government is working to create favorable conditions so that private capital funds and investment funds can more safely participate in financing Moldovan companies using all financial instruments available on the market. Natalia Gavrilita noted that the government has already improved the credibility of the country and the image of Moldova at the international level through concrete actions. “Our goal is also to improve Moldova’s credit rating by improving good governance,” Prime Minister said. According to her, one of the main priorities of the government's reform program is the reform of justice, which involves an external assessment of judges and prosecutors. “Trust in institutions, stability and predictability is extremely important for our citizens, business communities and foreign investors. Justice reform will help strengthen the justice system and consolidate our institutions by making them more responsive, efficient and fair. It will be a social reform, but also an economic reform. A fair, independent and accountable justice system is the foundation for a functioning democracy, but also a precondition for a functioning market economy,” said the Prime Minister. She called the digitalization of public services and the economy as another important area. “The COVID-19 pandemic gave only the necessary impetus for this and made decision-makers realize the importance of accelerating the digital transformation of our country. We believe that we need to act quickly, move forward and not waste time. We are a small country, but we can achieve a lot using new technologies. At the suggestion of the government, the parliament has already adopted in the final reading a package of laws on digitalization. These changes ensure that entrepreneurs can only register their business online with a qualified electronic signature. EU electronic signatures will be recognized in Moldova, which will make it easy to interact with government agencies online, create a single window for certain services provided to citizens and businesses, and eliminate the need to request various paper documents, which hinders business development. And this is just the beginning! We want to turn Moldova into a truly attractive country where digital solutions are the norm, not the exception. My government supports business: we encourage investment, so I would like more and more investors to come to my country. I would like to open a channel of communication between the capital markets and business in Moldova,” stressed Natalia Gavrilita. // 16.11.2021 - InfoMarket.
