Moldova’s first presentation take place on November 15 at one of the most prestigious trading floors in the world - the London Stock Exchange.

The event will take place within the framework of the “Moldovan Capital Markets Day”, which is organized by the London Stock Exchange itself in partnership with the international investment bank Renaissance Capital and maib. The event will be opened by the Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilita, followed by the head of the London Stock Exchange Julia Hoggett, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso and President of the National Bank of Moldova Octavian Armasu. Further work will continue in the framework of two panels. The first, entitled “Moldova’s Macroeconomic Landscape”, will host a discussion on macroeconomics. It will be attended by representatives of the IMF, WB, EBRD and NBM. The moderator will be the leading economist and analyst of the Renaissance Capital investment bank, who will present an analysis of the Moldovan economy. The second panel, entitled “Capital Markets Trends and Opportunities”, will feature Moldovan companies - maib, Endava and Purcari Wineries Group, which operate in three different sectors of the economy - finance, IT and winemaking. They were invited to familiarize investors with how these companies themselves view and assess the reforms and development of Moldova. This panel will be moderated by a representative from the London Stock Exchange. According to the Chairman of the Board of Moldova Agroindbank Giorgi Shagidze, the largest and most successful international investors who invest in securities quoted on stock exchanges have been invited to attend Moldova’s presentation. “Our main goal is to show our country correctly. As part of the event, we will work out ways and means of further informing investors about the reforms and development of the real sector of the Moldovan economy, while presenting its attractive and valuable assets. Attracting such investors is very important for the country's image. When investors see that a bank in a certain country has entered such a market, this already puts our country in a different category. This is not a maib event and will not only be attended by maib representatives. We want investors to understand correctly where the country is heading, what the risks are, and how you can sell here. This is the first step that will allow attracting the right investors to the country,” said the head of maib. He stressed that during the presentation he will talk about the significant changes in Moldova through the prism of sustainable development of maib. “We are now working at the bank to transform it, making it as transparent and convenient as possible for clients. I will present to investors the main goals of the maib development strategy; I will introduce the progress that the bank has been making in recent years. At the same time, I will tell you in detail about the transformation to which we are leading our bank, I will acquaint with the tasks that we want to solve. Of course, one of our key initiatives is the issue of entering and placing the bank's shares on the international stock market,” said Giorgi Shagidze. According to him, the decision to place an IPO should be made by maib shareholders. “Currently, we do not yet have such a decision, but we are now busy with the preparatory process in order to obtain consent for the IPO of the bank's owners upon its completion. If we approve this decision, we will reap many benefits. The placement does not only concern the value of the bank's securities. I want to clearly emphasize that their placement provides great benefits not only to the bank and its shareholders, but also to Moldovan business, the business environment, and of course, Moldova itself. After all, when the largest bank in a country places its shares on the international market, it attracts world-famous shareholders. And if investors of this level purchased the bank's shares, this means that they take on certain risks associated with the processes taking place in the country. If eminent investors have decided to invest in maib, it will mean that they have decided to invest in the country. In practice, this will mean that if another Moldovan company wishes to attract foreign investments or enter the market with an IPO, it will be much easier for it, and most importantly, more simple. Other investors, seeing that there are well-known companies in the capital of maib, will boldly invest in Moldovan assets,” said the Chairman of the Board of Moldova Agroindbank. According to him, at the end of October interested international investors working in the Romanian market were familiarized with maib and Moldova. Subsequently, the country and maib will be presented in European countries and the USA. // 12.11.2021 – InfoMarket
