Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu again goes to negotiations with the leadership of Gazprom.

During a briefing on Monday, Spinu presented the results of the last visit of the Moldovan delegation to Moscow, where he met with Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak, General Director of Gazprom Export Elena Burmistrova and Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov. According to Spinu, negotiations on gas supplies to Moldova continue. “The negotiations are difficult, but we believe that it is possible to find“ bridges ”so that it would be beneficial for both Gazprom and Moldova,” Spinu said. According to him, on Wednesday, October 27, a new round of discussions with the head of Gazprom Aleksey Miller will take place. There are two main issues on the agenda, which were also discussed in Moscow - the commercial debt of Moldova to Gazprom and the gas price for the next year for our country. Speaking about the debt, Andrei Spinu noted that the debt has been formed since 1994, and the Moldovan side is ready to continue discussions, but will assume any obligations on the gas debt only after an independent audit at Moldovagaz. As for the gas price, Moldova is in favor of a correct price based on the formula according to which Russian gas is supplied to other countries with which Gazprom has concluded long-term contracts. At the same time, he emphasized that both the option of linking the formula in the contract to the spot gas prices, and a hybrid formula - with the linking to international prices on the gas and oil markets, is being considered. “We act in the interests of citizens and want the best gas price, and I guarantee that the government, parliament and presidency work in a team so that there is gas in the country and we will adequately overcome this crisis,” said Andrei Spinu. Answering journalists' questions regarding the proposal of the Russian side, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Gazprom offers to supply gas at market prices with a possible additional discount of 25%. Spinu also clarified that by the end of October Moldova has a contract with Gazprom and that both the right and left banks of the Dniester are provided with gas, and the natural gas snacks announced by Energocom are intended to increase the pressure in the gas network. When asked what will happen if the contract with Gazprom fails to be signed and what will happen in this case with gas supplies to the Transnistrian region, Andrei Spinu did not answer, saying that he would be able to talk about it after discussions with Miller on Wednesday. // 25.10.2021 — InfoMarket.
