According to Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu at a press conference on Wednesday evening after the meeting of the National Commission for Emergency Situations, such a decision was made to prevent an emergency and prepare for any possible scenario. Andrei Spinu explained that the high alert regime in the field of natural gas was introduced on the basis of a government decision, so that responsible institutions could take concrete measures to protect citizens from the effects of the energy crisis observed all over the world, associated with a shortage of "blue fuel" and a sharp increase in its cost. The Deputy Prime Minister said that the government has a clear strategy of action in order to avoid the energy crisis and to protect household and industrial consumers. A detailed document, a protocol of actions, in which everything will be scheduled, will be published on Thursday, October 14, after the final editing. As Andrei Spinu noted, a special working group will make decisions on providing assistance to citizens to compensate for the increase in gas tariffs through subsidies in invoices of end consumers, on the allocation of other social assistance, as well as, if necessary, alternative fuels: firewood, coal.
