This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Economy on the socio-economic development of Moldova for January-August 2021. The document states a tendency towards economic recovery: in the first half of the year, GDP amounted to 104.2 billion lei, which is 11.7% more than in the same period of 2020. Positive dynamics was registered in the industrial production sector for 7 months in 2021 (+ 13.6%.) And in the transport area - in January-July 2021, the volume of freight traffic increased by 9%, passenger - by 14.1%. Against the backdrop of the crisis of 2020 for 6 months this year investment activity increased significantly: investments in long-term assets increased by 21.8% - up to 10.1 billion lei. The indicators of retail trade in goods and services increased, the dynamics of foreign trade was also positive. At the same time, according to the report, there is a decline in the agricultural sector - by 11.3%, the inflation rate in August 2021 compared to August 2020 amounted to 4.6%, and the national currency depreciated against the dollar by 2.8% (against the euro - strengthened by 1.6%). The Ministry of Economy notes the positive dynamics of state budget revenues: in January-August of this year revenues to the national public budget amounted to about 47 billion lei, which is 20.4% more compared to the same period in 2020. The positive result is largely due to the resumption of consumption, which contributed to an increase in revenues from taxes and duties on goods and services. The average salary in the country has grown in 6 months 2021 by 13.2% - up to 8,758.6 lei, the average size of pensions - by 12.8% - up to 2,271.45 lei. The number of unemployed decreased by 37% in 8 months 2021 in comparison with the same period last year - up to 21.6 thousand people.
