The press service of the parliament reported this, noting that the members of the commission on foreign policy and European integration at the meeting approved the start of negotiations and the signing of the Agreement on the restoration of agreements on development assistance signed in 2016 between the governments of Moldova and the United States. The purpose of the future agreement is an agreement between the governments of the Republic of Moldova and the United States on maintaining in force the previous two agreements on assistance provided to our country and extending the terms for the development of gratuitous financial resources provided for the allocation, which expired in May-June 2021. In particular, it is proposed to start negotiations and approve the signing of Amendment 11 to the Intergovernmental Agreement with the United States on Development Assistance for More Effective and Accountable Democratic Governance in Moldova, which was signed on September 28, 2016, and expired on May 31, 2021. Likewise, it is planned to sign Amendment 11 to the Intergovernmental Development Assistance Agreement to increase trade and investment in key sectors, which was signed in Chisinau on September 28, 2016 and expired on June 30, 2021. It is planned that the provisions of the above agreements will be restored, and the deadline implementation of both agreements will be extended until December 31, 2025, while the total amount of allocated grants will remain. The total amount of grant aid allocated in accordance with 10 amendments to the two agreements signed with the US government is $ 167.53 million, of which only $ 75.75 million was received and disbursed. Development assistance between the governments of Moldova and the United States to increase trade and investment in key sectors is designed to promote cooperation between the two countries, promote economic growth and increase investment in the most promising sectors of Moldova, improve the business environment by introducing reforms in the business and tax sectors. To achieve its stated goals, the United States supports efforts to further reduce administrative barriers to business, streamline the tax system, reduce opportunities for corruption, improve access to information, and strengthen public-private dialogue. The total amount of the grant provided for by this agreement and 10 amendments to it was $ 90.62 million. At the same time, Moldova has disbursed $ 34.1 million through aid projects under this agreement. Herewith, the Agreement on Development Assistance between the government of Moldova and the US government for more effective and accountable governance, provides for the allocation of grants for the implementation of projects aimed at creating a more effective and responsible system of democratic governance in Moldova, involving civil society in the decision-making process, strengthening local government, carrying out reforms in a number of sectors. The total amount of the grant provided for by this agreement and 10 amendments to it is $ 76.91 million.
