Moldova’s draft tax and customs policy for 2022 is under discussions and the policy documents for 2023 are planned to be prepared by May next year.

The head of the Ministry of Finance Dumitru Budianschi announced this at e-TAXCON'21 - the international tax conference held online. According to him, a package of changes within the framework of tax policy for the next year, on which there is a consensus, has already been prepared, and now discussions are underway on some more delicate topics. According to him, the Ministry of Finance plans to strictly adhere to the planning calendar of the main fiscal documents next year, so that the fiscal and customs policy document for 2023 is prepared by May next year. Dumitru |Budianschi emphasized that the priorities of the Ministry of Finance are the development of the private sector, the competitiveness of the economy, and a decrease in the share of the shadow sector of the economy. He mentioned the need to change the system of tax incentives and bring it in line with EU directives, including VAT and excise taxes. According to Budianschi, tax incentives must be provided carefully and, rather, in the form of exceptions. The two-day e-TAXCON'21 conference was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (Amcham Moldova) in partnership with the Romanian Chamber of Tax Consultants and the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania sponsored by PWC, KPMG and P.A.A. More than 500 participants have registered for the event. The conference discusses the challenges and tax problems faced by enterprises in Moldova, including non-residents; tax administration issues; tax aspects of organizing teleworking of employees (including during the COVID-19 pandemic) and the development of a digital society; tax policies and their macroeconomic impact; challenges related to income tax, VAT, taxation of non-residents, etc. The main goal of the conference is to provide tax professionals with a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. // 17.09.2021 – InfoMarket
