
In the first half of 2021, Moldova received over 32.62 million euros and $ 3.48 million (over 751.74 million lei) to support the state budget in the form of external loans and grants.
The Ministry of Finance announced this, noting that, at the same time, 60 million 593.3 thousand lei of this amount were grants, and the only donor was the World Bank represented by the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the WB group. According to the Ministry of Finance, in particular, in the first quarter of 2021, Moldova received more than 10.4 million euros and $ 3.48 million (equivalent to 278.15 million lei) to support the state budget in the form of external loans and grants, and in the second quarter - about 22.22 million euros (equivalent to 473.59 million lei). Herewith, in January-March 2021, for these purposes were received 10 million 403.68 thousand euros and $ 3 million 482.05 thousand (278 million 154.2 thousand lei in equivalent). So, in particular, to support the state budget in the first quarter of 2021, were received loans from the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group, within the framework of projects for health care reform in the amount of 385 thousand 737.95 euros (equivalent to 8 million 218.8 thousand lei), for the modernization of the tax administration (TAMP) - 9 million 826.2 thousand euros (205 million 256.87 thousand lei), to improve competitiveness - 191 thousand 734.2 euros (4 million 085.2 thousand lei, 22.02.2021), as well as grants from the World Bank within the framework of the project "Urgent response to COVID-19" - $ 1 million 920 thousand (33 million 571 thousand lei) and $ 1 million 562.05 thousand (27 million 022.3 thousand lei). Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2021, Moldova received a loan of 21.9 million euros (466 million 822.59 thousand lei) to support the state budget from IDA within the framework of the "Urgent response to COVID-19" project, and another loan from IDA in the amount of 317.63 thousand euros (6 million 770.76 thousand lei,) was obtained to improve competitiveness. According to the Ministry of Finance, the budget for this year provided that in the first quarter of 2021 Moldova will receive another grant from the European Commission of $ 25.14 million (457.3 million lei) for police reform, but this money did not arrive in the country, as well as loans planned for the second quarter of 2021 from the IMF in the amount of $ 91.98 million (1 billion 673.17 million lei), from the European Commission (macro-financial assistance to Omnibus) - $ 58.74 million (1 billion 068.5 million lei) and from the European Investment bank (for the Railway of Moldova) - $ 2.67 million (48.7 million lei).
