Sales revenue of Moldova IT Park residents in 2020 reached 4.99 billion lei, which is 37% more than in 2019 and 2.6 times higher than in 2018.

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure reported this, noting that Moldova IT Park is the development engine of the IT industry in Moldova, and for the third year in a row the IT industry demonstrates the highest growth rates in the national economy, confirming its potential and development prospects. The ministry notes that these results are mainly due to the mechanisms for supporting the IT industry through a special state policy, especially the legislation on IT parks, on the basis of which Moldova IT Park, the first and only virtual IT park in our country, operates. Currently, Moldova IT Park unites 800 companies, being the main engine for the development of the IT industry and increasing its competitiveness at the regional level. Despite the pandemic situation, Moldova IT Park achieved remarkable results in 2020. As of the end of 2020, Moldova IT Park had 658 residents, of which 513 companies with local capital and 145 companies with foreign capital. This indicator increased by 25% compared to 2019 and by 95% compared to 2018.The highest growth rate over the last 3 years was registered in companies with local capital (513 residents in 2020, compared to 242 residents in 2018), but companies with foreign capital also increased their presence in the park by more than 50% during this period (145 versus 96). Resident companies were founded by investors from Moldova and 34 other countries. The top 5 countries on the origin of foreign capital include: the United States (25 companies), Romania (18 companies), Italy (13 companies), Great Britain and Germany (11 companies each). Almost 50% of the resident companies were created in the last 3 years after the launch of Moldova IT Park, the tax and operating model of which has stimulated the creation of new companies. The revenue from sales of residents of Moldova IT Park in 2020 reached 4.99 billion lei, which is 37% more than in 2019 and 2.6 times higher than in 2018. The external market remains a priority for the Moldovan IT -industry, export accounts for 80% of the turnover of Moldova IT Park residents. The export value of IT services and products produced in 2020 amounted to 3.91 billion lei, which is about 1 billion lei (35%) higher compared to the previous year, and 2.5 times higher than in 2018. The revenue from sales in the local market is also growing dynamically, reaching almost 1 billion lei in 2020, which is 45% more than in 2019. The volume of investments in the activities of residents in 2020 reached 116.8 million lei, which is by 25 million lei (27%) more than in 2019. Since the launch of Moldova IT Park, resident companies have invested in total about 240 million lei. The number of jobs created is also growing and reached 12,024 people as of the end of 2020, which is 2318 employees (32.5%) more than in 2019 and almost double the figure for the first year of the park's operation. By the end of 2020, 6383 jobs were created in enterprises with local capital, and 5641 jobs - in enterprises with foreign capital. The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure notes that the IT industry remains the most attractive industry, including in terms of the salaries in this area. Thus, the average monthly salary of employees of Moldova IT Park residents as of the end of 2020 amounted to 28015 lei per employee, which exceeds the average monthly salary recorded at the end of 2018 (25194 lei) and 2019 (27281 lei), by 11.2% and 2.7%, respectively. According to the State Tax Service, in 2020 the contribution of Moldova IT Park residents to the national public budget amounted to 539.4 million lei, of which 387.15 million lei are related to the single tax, and 152.3 million lei - to other taxes and fees. Accordingly, the amount of taxes and fees paid by residents of the park increased by 34% (+136.2 million lei) in 2020, compared to 2019, and by 59% (199.2 million lei), compared to 2018. The department emphasizes that the remarkable results of the residents of Moldova IT Park confirm the dynamic nature of the IT sector, the increased level of its adaptation to the crisis, as well as the ability to use the existing opportunities. Further development of the park is based on an ambitious vision and agenda. In this regard, the Moldova IT Park Development Strategy for the next 5 years was approved. The strategy contains projects and activities designed to contribute to the fulfillment of Moldova IT Park's mission to develop the IT sector and digital innovation ecosystem in our country. As a reminder, Moldova IT Park was created in early 2018.
