At a meeting on Thursday, the government approved the Land Cadastre of Moldova as of January 1, 2021. According to the document, the total area of Moldova is 3 million 384.7 thousand hectares, including irrigated land 217.94 thousand hectares and reclaimed land - 58.2 hectares. About 56.2% of the land (1 million 901.5 thousand hectares) in Moldova is privately owned, 23.1% (783.8 thousand hectares) - in public ownership, 20.7% (699.3 thousand hectares) - owned by administrative-territorial units. The area of agricultural land in Moldova is 2 million 129.5 thousand hectares (about 63% of the entire territory of the country), lands of the forest fund make up 449.82 thousand hectares (13.3%), lands of the reserve fund - 338.48 thousand hectares (10%), land within the boundaries of settlements - 315.06 thousand hectares (9.3%), land of the water fund - 87.8 thousand hectares (2.6%), land for industrial, transport and other special purposes - 59.88 thousand hectares (1.8%), land intended for the protection of nature, health, recreation - 4.07 thousand hectares (0.1%). It is noted that compared to the situation in January 2021, the lands of the reserve fund decreased by 41.24 thousand hectares as a result of the transfer of land occupied by construction and annexes of former agricultural units. These plots were included in the category of agricultural land, the area of which increased by 37.6 thousand hectares. There is also a decrease in the area of irrigated land (by 4.25 thousand hectares) and drained land (by 520 hectares). According to the Land Registry, all land is distributed among 2.34 million owners, of which 2.2 million are individuals. Agricultural land in Moldova is owned by 1.28 million owners.
