Customs conducted the first national transit operations using the new transit system.
According to the department's press service, the first transit operations through the new transit system (New Computerized Transit System) were carried out on July 1. It is noted that the transition of economic operators to the new system will be carried out in stages (over 3 months). This time will be enough for companies to train their staff on how to use the system while complying with the requirements of the Customs Code. “The introduction of the new transit system and the connection of economic agents to it is a new step in the digitalization of Moldovan customs, creating an exclusively paperless environment, eliminating bureaucracy and reducing the processing time of transit declarations,” the Customs Service said. The new system allows companies to directly exchange electronic data with customs authorities. This involves reducing the time for customs clearance and the amount of administrative work. The costs of transit formalities are also reduced, and after Moldova joins the Common Transit Convention NCTS5, integration with European and international customs networks will be possible, and trade procedures will be simplified.
