According to the approved amendments, the revenue part of the budget will amount to 65 billion 776.7 million lei, while the expenditure part will amount to 84 billion 104 million lei. At the same time, the state budget deficit will not change and will amount to 18 billion 327.3 million lei (5.9 per cent of the GDP). The amendments were made due to the adjustment of the macroeconomic forecast for the current year and in the context of the actual execution of the state budget in January-August 2023. The amendments made to the law on the state budget for 2023 and to the law on the Unified Payroll System in the budgetary sector include the measures envisaged in the Spor pentru Moldova package announced by the government. The government said that the identified savings were redirected to economic and social impact programs, as well as to new measures meant for budgetary employees. The biggest allocations of additional funds concern lump-sum payments and salary increases, for which 846.9 million lei will be allocated. The salaries of doctors and nurses in budgetary institutions are to be increased by 15 per cent. Teachers from all educational institutions will receive a lump-sum payment of 5,000 lei, while non-teaching staff will receive 3,000 lei. Police officers and carabineers of the Interior Ministry will receive a lump-sum payment of 5,000 lei. At the same time, the salaries of about 1,700 people in the cultural sector will rise by 25 per cent on average. Besides, the following funds will be allocated: 100 million lei for road repairs, 400 million lei for rural and urban development projects and for the "European Village" program, as well as an additional 100 million lei for agriculture and 86 million lei for afforestation.
