The State Tax Service (STS) will check about 17,000 taxpayers who have outstanding tax liabilities or who have not filed income tax declarations in 2019-2022.
The State Tax Service has started checking the unpaid tax liabilities of individuals for the last 4 years. The agency will send preliminary letters to debtors with a recommendation to apply to the Tax Service Department at their place of residence to receive instructions on further actions required to fulfill their tax obligations. Taxpayers who have outstanding obligations to the budget, as well as taxpayers who did not submit income tax returns for 2019-2022, although they were obliged to, will be subject to inspection. According to the Tax Code, the income tax declaration must be submitted by individuals (citizens of Moldova, foreign citizens, stateless persons, including members of partnerships and shareholders of investment funds) who are liable to pay tax; persons engaged in professional activities, regardless of whether there is a tax liability; resident individuals who have taken advantage of personal exemption and received in the declared tax period an annual taxable income of more than 360 thousand lei; resident individuals deducting a percentage of income tax transferred annually to the budget; non-resident individuals who receive income from other resident individuals, etc. Individuals must submit the CET18 declaration by April 30 of the year following the reporting tax year. // 15.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
