Individuals with incomes up to 720 thousand lei will be able to enjoy a personal exemption starting 2024, while the amount of exemptions will remain at the current level.

This is provided for in the draft fiscal policy for 2024, developed by the Ministry of Finance. In particular, it is proposed to increase from 360 to 720 thousand lei the limits of annual taxable income of individuals, which allows exercising the right of personal exemption. This will increase the number of potential beneficiaries of personal exemption. Currently, individuals are entitled to personal exemption (27 thousand lei) in case of taxable income up to 360 thousand lei. At the same time, for the second year in a row, the draft tax policy does not provide the traditional annual increase in the amount of exemptions for taxpayers-individuals.
