Tariffs for services provided by the municipal enterprise Piața Centrală (Central Open Market) may increase by more than 1.5 times.

The corresponding draft decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council on the approval of the nomenclature and tariffs for the services provided by Piața Centrală will be considered at a meeting of the commission on budget, economy, finance, local public property, agriculture and suburban issues. The explanatory note to the draft states that the increase in tariffs is necessary for the implementation of the concept of modernization of the enterprise approved in 2020, which provides for the provision of a wider range of services, as well as the improvement of conditions for merchants and buyers. However, for the implementation of these plans, the current level of income of the enterprise is not enough. At the same time, it is noted that Piața Centrală suffered from downtime during the pandemic and incurred significant costs to comply with sanitary and epidemiological standards, and the current tariffs for the company’s services have not changed since 2013, while utility tariffs and taxes have increased , salaries, while the number of traders decreased. The new tariffs are calculated in accordance with the methodology approved by the director of Piața Centrală in December last year. The new nomenclature provides for the establishment of tariffs separately for the Central Market and for the market at 9 Carbunari Street, where seasonal trade in planting material and poultry is carried out. A tariff is also introduced for placing a dry closet on the territory of the market (990 lei per month) and toilet services (3 lev / person). According to the project, the basic tariff for renting a retail space in the Central Market of Chisinau can increase from 14 to 22 lei/day per 1 sq. m. (+57.1%), and in areas of high traffic, the tariff for renting a counter will reach 55 lei / day per 1 sq. m. The tariff for selling food products, agricultural products, citrus fruits, industrial products, tobacco products, etc. from the counter, in a kiosk, pavilion, will increase to 660 lei/sq. m per month (today - 350-420 lei), and in high traffic areas the tariff will increase to 1320 lei/sq. m per month. The tariff for trade places in the market on Carbunarilor Street will also increase: for poultry trade it will increase from 150 to 255 lei per day, and for planting material trade from 75 to 145 lei per day. For home producers in both markets, the fee for a trading place will be 0.5% of the guaranteed minimum wage in the real sector established by the government (17.5 lei per day per 1 sq. m). According to the draft, it is also proposed that the tariffs for Piața Centrală services be adjusted 2 times a year. // 18.07.2022- InfoMarket.
