This was reported by Vladislav Kulminski, Moldova's ambassador to the U.S., who noted that over the past year there has been a significant improvement in trade conditions for the sale of Moldovan goods on the U.S. market. This is due to decisions by Moldovan authorities to remove trade barriers for American companies in the Moldovan market, to open the Moldovan market to American companies, and to lengthy negotiations with the U.S. administration on improving trade conditions for Moldovan companies. Vladislav Kulminski explained that while Moldovan goods exported to the U.S. were subject to an additional 25% tariff last year, the situation today is fundamentally different. "For Moldova, this 25% tariff no longer applies. And for most of the product categories we export to the U.S., we have a zero tariff rate," the diplomat stated. According to him, sector-specific duties that existed prior to the introduction of the 25% tariff still remain in place for certain categories. "But, in essence, over the course of a year, we've gone from a 25% tariff on exports to the U.S. to a zero tariff on most product lines," said Vladislav Kulminski. He noted that many Moldovan manufacturers have gained real competitive advantages in the U.S. market, since additional 15% tariffs remain in effect for many other countries, including those in our region. "Today, we have no such tariff on most product lines. And this is a very significant achievement. The government, the ministries of economic development and foreign affairs, the parliament, the president's office, and the team in Washington all worked on this. There was constant dialogue with the U.S. side, including numerous meetings and behind-the-scenes discussions. More than 100 countries have been hit with additional tariffs ranging from 10% to 15%.
