The agreement was signed on Friday by Moldova's Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Eugeniu Osmochescu, and European Investment Bank Vice President Karl Nehammer. Under the agreement, EIB Global, the European Investment Bank's development division, will provide Moldova with 150 million euros to support the modernization of agricultural and food value chains throughout the country. This operation is backed by a European Union guarantee under the NDICI—"Global Europe"—initiative and is closely linked to the EU's €1.9 billion Growth Plan for Moldova, which aims to accelerate economic development through investments, reforms, and stronger private-sector growth. The financing is expected to help farmers and agri-food businesses invest in modern technologies for production, processing, storage, and logistics. By providing broader access to long-term financing, the program will help businesses expand, create jobs, and bring higher-value-added products to market. At the same time, part of the credit line under Livada Moldova-II will be directed toward supporting public investments in agricultural education, scientific research, and food safety infrastructure, which will help strengthen the foundations of a modern and competitive agricultural sector. As noted by EU Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko, the project will expand access for farmers, food producers, and rural entrepreneurs to the long-term financing needed to modernize, develop, and enhance competitiveness in the European market. The new financing builds on the success of the EIB's flagship program, Livada Moldovei, which has supported more than 500 investment projects in Moldova's agricultural sector through 2025. EIB Vice President Karl Nehammer, who oversees the bank's operations in Moldova, stated that Livada Moldovei-II will continue the approach already proven by the first program, building on established institutions and project implementation experience to reach businesses across the country. "Through the Livada Moldovei-II project, we are helping farmers and food industry enterprises invest in their future, increase their competitiveness, and create added value at the local level. This involves supporting people who want to grow their businesses, create jobs, and bring Moldovan products to new markets," he emphasized. // 23.10.2026 — InfoMarket.
