This was discussed during a meeting held in Chisinau between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and Arvid Tuerkner, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's Director for Ukraine and Moldova in Chisinau, where they discussed Moldova's economic development priorities and the expansion of cooperation with the EBRD. The Prime Minister noted the EBRD's contribution to the modernization of Moldova's economy and emphasized the government's interest in strengthening the partnership and attracting additional investment in sectors with high growth potential. "We have a strong partnership with the EBRD, and we aim to take it to a whole new level. Our priority is to accelerate economic growth, support companies capable of increasing exports, and invest in areas where Moldova can most effectively realize its potential. We are counting on the EBRD's assistance in attracting new investments and financing for our economy," the prime minister stated. The parties discussed expanding private-sector financing, supporting promising companies, improving access to financial resources, and stimulating exports, as well as investments in energy, infrastructure, and agriculture. A key topic of the meeting was the development of irrigation infrastructure—a priority for the government that is essential for increasing the productivity and competitiveness of agriculture. EBRD representatives expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in this area and announced their intention to sign a corresponding project agreement by the end of the year. The EBRD's Director for Ukraine and Moldova reaffirmed the bank's commitment to supporting Moldova in accelerating economic growth and advancing the EU accession process. It should be noted that the EBRD is one of Moldova's key investment partners. Currently, the bank's portfolio in the country exceeds 1.3 billion euros and includes 74 active projects.
