The Moldovan government has approved the start of negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on a loan agreement for up to 344 million euros for the Sixth Road Rehabilitation Project. The funds are planned to be used to modernize approximately 134 km of national highways of strategic importance. According to Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the project involves the reconstruction, widening, and construction of road sections, primarily along the R7 and M3 transport corridors, which are part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). These highways connect Moldova with Romania and the European transport system. In addition to the EBRD loan, the project will be supplemented by European Union grants, which will allow the investments to be carried out on more favorable financial terms for Moldova.
