The President of Moldova made this statement while welcoming the U.S. Senate's confirmation of Joseph Burkhalter as the new U.S. Ambassador to Moldova and expressing hope that this would give new impetus to the development of Moldovan-American relations. "We have very good relations with the U.S., and we have important projects, including those in the energy sector. For example, the construction of the Strășeni–Gutinaș power line will be fully funded by the U.S. government. This is a major project that is very important to us. In addition, there are projects in other areas, including security, cybersecurity, and, of course, I would like to continue these efforts and these cooperation programs with the next ambassador," Maia Sandu noted. She noted that U.S. assistance to Moldova, as well as the ongoing dialogue between officials of the two countries, refute claims by some that there are no good relations between Moldova and the United States. "We have our embassy in the United States, which quite frequently reports on all meetings; many members of Congress from both parties visit Moldova; we engage in dialogue with them, and they are committed to our stability and want us to continue strengthening our democracy," the Moldovan head of state emphasized. She welcomed the U.S. Senate's confirmation on August 8 of Joseph Burkhalter as the future ambassador to Moldova and stated that Chișinău is ready to continue cooperating with Washington. "We are pleased that a new U.S. ambassador is coming, because there was a period when we did not have an ambassador—and we were not the only ones in that situation. Now this process has been unblocked, and we will continue our cooperation", noted Maia Sandu. // 18.08.2026 — InfoMarket
